NYIGF: Look who we ran into!

. Senin, 17 Agustus 2009

One of the best aspects of attending the New York International Gift Fair was meeting many of the owners and creators of the fabulous products on display! I was especially excited to meet the Southern duo behind Time Frame, Jean Gaylon and Katherine Pearson. If you remember, Lizzie Bailey used some of their artwork in her room at the Hampton Designer Showhouse, specifically, the collages above the bedside tables and the framed epaulets in the hallway. Time Frame is best known for their framed antique documents, drawings, and my favorite, the French menus but they also represent new artists as well. Definitely check them out online!

Kevin was surprised that I knew what Prosper Assouline, the founder of Assouline, looked like but it's my job to know! But as a visual person, I have a knack for remembering faces. I also got to practice my French! Assouline has a lot of beautiful special edition books and new titles coming out this year and I can't wait to check out their store in Paris!

I've seen Jack and Lulu stationery online but never in person and I really love their new products! Julie Murphy, seen here, and her partner Karen Cotchett, have created a really lovely Gold Collection that is not just beautiful but also reasonably priced. They offer boxed notes and personalized products and I already know I will be placing an order! Check back for more on them soon!

I was familiar with Barbara Cosgrove lamps but not that she was from Kansas City! Luckily, her daughter in law, Amy Jo Cosgrove, was on hand to fill me in on all our mutual friends and about her inspiring mother-in-law who studied pottery before creating her fabulous lamps. I may have to schedule another visit to KC just to meet her!

The king of pillows, Thomas Paul, was also manning his own booth! I have a feeling he's going to have space as big as Jonathan Adler's before long!

We also ran into interior designer extraordinaire Tori Golub in the Oly booth! I was introduced to Tori through Matthew White and Frank Webb and she one of the nicest designers as well as most talented! We've talked about working on a more in depth profile so check back for more soon.

I also heard that Bunny Williams and John Rosselli were at the show Saturday. It was funny to see some products that I bought at Treillage and other stores at the fair so now I know where they came from! It will come in handy if I ever do decide to open a store! If you plan to visit the New York International Gift Fair this week, just make sure you leave yourself plenty of time. We ended up spending five hours going through all the booths at the Javits Center and the Pier 94! Oh, and make sure you say hello to everyone!
